Bill Adams

Bill Adams is a geographer, whose work focuses on issues of sustainability and conservation from the perspectives of political ecology and environmental history. He has a long-standing interest in the environmental and social impacts of dams, particularly in Africa. His books include Wasting the Rain: Rivers, People and Planning in Africa (Earthscan, 1992) and Green Development: Environment and Sustainability in a Developing World (Routledge, 4th edition 2020). He held the Moran Chair in Conservation and Development from 2006 to 2020 in the Department of Geography at the University of Cambridge, UK, and is currently Claudio Segré Professor of Conservation, Graduate Institute, Geneva, Switzerland.
