Khem Raj Sharma, PhD

Khem Raj Sharma completed his Ph.D. in Soil and Water Engineering from the Central Luzon State University in the Philippines in 1992. In Nepal, he led some development projects and the research and training wing of Nepal’s erstwhile Department of Irrigation (DOI), now named the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation (DWRI). In DWRI, he pursued and studied the concept of Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM), working with young engineers, sociologists, agronomists, farmers and their associations. He joined Nepal Engineering College as a Professor and Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Water Resources Management Programme in July 2009 and served as the Director of its Center for Postgraduate Studies (necCPS) till August 2020. He has worked as a specialist in a few Asian countries. He currently lives in Kathmandu and teaches, writes and engages in water issues.
