Professor Jayanta Bandyopadhyay

Professor Jayanta Bandyopadhyay holds a PhD in Materials Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. After completing his doctoral work, he shifted his research focus to Modern Science and Society. An author and researcher of international repute, his contribution to interdisciplinary water studies in South Asia, particularly in mountain areas, has been exemplary. Professor Bandyopadhyay has been closely involved in water diplomacy in the Himalayan region and has been Adviser to the Graduate Program in Water Diplomacy at MIT-Tufts. In 2012, he retired as Professor and Head, Centre for Development and Environment Policy at the Indian Institute of Management in Kolkata. Currently, he is Distinguished Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation, Kolkata. .  jayanta@iimcal.ac.in
